STEM EVENT - Electricity

October 9, 2023

Students learned about...

1) Homopolar Motors - A homopolar motor is the simplest motor to make.  This motor was used to introduce students to electricity and electromagnetism and used to make a metal “tiny dancer” spin.

2) Circuits & Lights - Students investigated how various circuit arrangements influence the intensity of light produced by a light bulb.

3) Static Electricity - Students investigated the properties of static electricity by rubbing balloons on their hair. The balloons became negatively charged. Students then learned what positively charged items, like their hair and paper, were attracted to the negatively charged balloon.
